Be always grateful to God.
-Pastor Poju Oyemade
When God sent Gideon to war against the Midianites, he cautioned him about something and this is a lesson for all leaders.
God told him to reduce the number of those going to battle lest when victory comes, the people will get it twisted and attribute it to themselves and to their strength instead of God.
Judges 8:2
“And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.”
By that they will get permanently lost as a people being delusional about their own capabilities.
Always make sure your camp stays humble.
God will keep some victories away from you until the “camp” knows who is really making things happen and they will attribute it to the mercy of God, where the people don’t leave with the feeling “we did this” when it was God all the while.
This should tell us something about the nature of God, He can do something really powerful and yet hide Himself in the process such that people think it was them who got it done.
He helps us in ways we will never really know how much He did to put us over.
If God ever gives you an assignment, settle this first. Even when it appears like “we did it” know God is only making you look good in public. He can raise others who will do it multiple times better than you.
