There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the holy God [or gods], and in the days of your father light and understanding and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar, your father–the king, I say, your father–appointed him master of the magicians, enchanters or soothsayers, Chaldeans, and astrologers, Because an excellent spirit, knowledge, and understanding to interpret dreams, clarify riddles, and solve knotty problems were found in this same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will show the interpretation.Daniel 5:11-12 AMPC
The man Daniel was an exceptional man in Babylon. He was taken to Babylon as a slave, but did not live as a slave in Babylon because, he became a man much loved by the king, with no man like him in the whole of Babylon. Daniel did things that were beyond this earth realm, which the magicians, the soothsayers, enchanters, astrologers, and the Chaldeans saw and gave much respect and honour to him, and was even made the master of the magicians, because all that the people knew and believed in was magic; anything that’s beyond their understanding they classify as magic.
In those days, after the king, the most powerful, and the most reputable men in the land were the magicians, the astrologers, and the soothsayers; but the people, including the magicians, the astrologers, and the soothsayers all saw something about Daniel that was beyond what they’ve ever known; he wasn’t into magic, but was doing things supernaturally which the magicians could not dare.
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and by the time he woke up from his sleep, the dream had left him, but was still troubled by the dream, so, he called all the powerful people in the land for them to find out diabolically the dream and also interprete it, but none of them could do it, only Daniel was able to know and interprete the king’s dream. Now, Belshazzar, the king was in trouble because of the hand he saw writing on the wall, so, he called all the powerful people in the land: the magicians, the astrologers, the soothsayers, and the rest of them to interprete the writing on the wall, but no one could until Daniel was recommended to the king and called. Only Daniel could interprete the writing, because he was exceptional.
What made Daniel stand out? We saw in the scripture what made him stood out, we are told that he had an excellent Spirit. It was the excellent spirit that made Daniel do things that were beyond the men of his days, so the Babylonians called it the spirit of the gods, but it was not actually the spirit of any strange God, but the Spirit of the living God that was at work in him.
The Spirit of God at work in Daniel made him super-intelligent, knowledgeable in all things, and gave him the understanding of all things that men could not learn intellectually. The same Spirit that made Daniel excellent and exceptional is at work in us, meaning we should even be more super-intelligent than Daniel was, because we have the Spirit living inside us. If you have the Spirit of God in you, you can do more than Daniel did, so function super-intelligently.
Prayer
Precious Father, I thank you for your grace at work in me, thank you for the ever abiding presence of your Spirit in me which has made me of quick understanding; blessed be your name Lord, in Jesus name. Amen.
