TOPIC : BIBLICAL DEFINITIONS OF LIGHT?
Scripture :1 John 1: 5.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! We introduced our theme for the month as the concept of light yesterday. Today we shall attempt to define light.

What is light?
Light has been defined as the natural agents that stimulate sight and make things visible. If we want to define light, different person have their views of what light should be.

Even in science, light is defined as electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the eyes. In the context of this meditation, we shall confine ourselves to biblical definition of light, not people’s opinion or what science teaches.

Biblical definition of light :
As we run through the Bible there are several definitions of light which are:
1. God is light :

1 John 1: 5. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

The first thing to know about light is that God is light! And every thing about God is light! His way is light! His word is light

Psalm 119: 105. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Beloved, to know God therefore is to know light! And to have the word of God is to have light! when a man is born of God, he is born of light. Hence the children of God are refers to as the children of light:

Ephesians 5: 8. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

When a man is full of God, he is full of light. To exist without God is to sign an agreement with darkness permanently.

The reverse is the case for anyone who rejects God and the knowledge of God, the person welcomes the devil as his father and the demons as his companion.

This explains why every activity that is without God is refers to as darkness! And darkness is synonymous with Satan and his activities (sickness, hell, death, afflictions etc).

Besides, God’s throne is built with light :

1 Timothy 6: 16. Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Hence, to visit the throne of God is to partake in the light there! This explains why those who dwell permanently around the throne dwell in a light far beyond the reach of darkness and every thing that darkness represents.

Even the Son of God who is also our Lord Jesus Christ is also called Light:

John 8: 12. Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The above scripture was the statement of Jesus, He didn’t say I know the light, rather He said I am the Light! Waoh!!

This implies that to know Jesus is to know the light and to have the light is to have Jesus! Beloved, may I ask you, do you know Jesus? Have you at any time surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus? If NO!

Then you need to pause now and do it quickly by praying this short prayer and mean it from the depth of your heart:

Lord Jesus I receive you as my Lord and saviour. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that you died and rose again for my sin. Thank you Lord in Jesus name.

If you sincerely prayed this prayer, then you have just been translated into the kingdom of light:

Colossians 1: 12. Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Moreover, you also have become a light to your world as you have now been born into the family of light.

Matthew 5: 14. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

This is because when you have the life of Jesus Christ, you also have light.

John 1: 4. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real! Where will you spend eternity?

Prayer points :
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord, I receive grace to know you more than I’ve ever known you in Jesus name.

Prophetic Declaration :
– I prophesy the release of the light of God upon your soul in Jesus name.
– In this month of December, your life is excused from disaster and calamity in Jesus name.
