IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HAVE PURSUED GOD IN YOUR HISTORY, WHAT MATTERS IS HOW YOU PURSUE HIM IN YOUR PRESENT.

STOP TELLING THE STORIES OF YESTERDAY, ENSURE YOUR COMMITMENT IS MAINTAINED TODAY.

YESTERDAY’S CONSISTENCY IS NOT ENOUGH FOR TODAY.

– Pastor David Oyedepo Jr at CHoP

Our Father, this morning we have come to give glory unto You and to give praise. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for Your goodness.

Thank You Lord for the answers You continue to give to all of our prayers. We give You all the praise and all the glory.

For the testimonies we have heard, again we say, we are grateful and now this morning, our eyes are upon you. We ask that you will speak to us again.

By Your Word, let every one of our lives be changed. We give You all the praise and all the glory, in Jesus precious name we have prayed.

Our line of exhortation which we began looking at yesterday is captioned:

ENGAGING THE GRACE FOR CONTINUITY IN STEWARDSHIP

We discovered yesterday looking at God’s Word that from biblical prophecy we see that in the last days, many will fall away from the faith – 2 Thessalonians 2:3
The last days will be characterized by the falling away of many. That is why the grace for continuity is vital.

Acts 26:22
There is a grace that is required for continuity to be manifested and for anyone to receive help like Paul called it, it is grace that helps us to run this race with consistency, with steadfastness, with continuity – Hebrews 4:16
That is why positioning ourselves for this grace becomes vital.

-I pray that for each one of us, the grace that will enable us to be consistent, to be persistent, to be steadfast in our stewardship, I pray that the grace will be made available in the name of Jesus.

This morning we are going to look at a number of cases of individuals that were consistent in their pursuit of God to the end and I pray that as we follow in their own footsteps, each one of us also will press on to the end.

The first example we will look at is the example of Job.

From scriptures, we can see that Job made it to the end in spite of his brutal challenges, in spite of the confrontations, in spite of the issues he came across. He was able to press on to the end.

Job 1:8-9
He was described by God as thew servant of God and one that was perfect, one that was upright, one that eschewed evil. We see from scriptures how the devil began to target him – Job 2:7

Job 13:15 – I will not shift ground, I will remain consistent. I will stand steadfast, no matter what comes against me. At a point, the wife of Job said, “Curse God and die”
Job 2:9-10
I will stay the course; I will not shift my ground. You know what happened in Job chapter 42 verses 10 to 14, Job turned the captivity of Job and made him twice as great as he was before.

He pressed and maintained his way to the end
The Bible tells us that he lived another 140 years, he enjoyed longevity in blessing, by reason of his consistency in the pursuit of God.

-I pray that for each one of us, the grace to press on to the end be granted to each one in the name of Jesus.

What that meant was that Job did not negotiate his commitment based on convenience. Even in the midst of harsh difficulty, he stayed the course.

You must understand that those who know how to press on to the end, even when they are pressed in on every side, are the ones that breakthrough at the end.

Job was pressed in on every side but he refused to be perplexed.

He pressed on to the end and as a result of that, we see his testimony today as a light for many others to follow.

-I see grace coming upon you for that in the name of Jesus.

How about Daniel?

Daniel made it to the end, in the land of captivity.

Daniel 1:8 – He made a decision to stay the course in serving God and we began to see God decorate him and his colleagues in different ways.

Daniel 1:17, 20
We begin to see the hand of God upon the life of Daniel – Daniel 2:16, 19, 46
The Lord opened to him the secret and the king bowed and worshipped Daniel. By reason of his consistency, he was distinguished.

We are told in chapter 6 of Daniel, the king sent for him, “servant of the living God”, even the king knew that Daniel was serving God – Daniel 6:20.

Daniel 6:28 -Daniel reigned in the seasons of 4 different kings: Nebuchadnezzar, his son Belshazzar, in Darius reign and in Cyrus’s reign.

I love the word they used in verse 28, they didn’t just say he was present. In fact they didn’t just say that he reigned, they said, “This Daniel prospered.” Everything was working for him because he was consistent with God.

Everything was working for him. He prospered in the reign of Darius, he prospered in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
Kings came and kings went, Daniel remained.
Nebuchadnezzar lived and died; Daniel was there.
Belshazzar lived and died; Daniel was there.
Darius came, lived and died, Daniel was there and then Cyrus came.

If you look at that succession, they were not father and son of each other.

Belshazzar was the son of Nebuchadnezzar but he was overthrown by Darius. Darius was overthrown by Cyrus, yet Daniel remained, the one who was consistent in the court of royalty, no matter who was on the throne, by reason of his consistency with God.

You can’t be consistent with the King of kings and be changed by kings on the earth. Daniel was unmovable because his stand with God was unmovable.

When your stand with God is unmovable, there is no man on earth that can move you.
-I see grace coming upon each one of us to maintain consistency like Daniel.

As we have positive examples to emulate, we also have negative examples to avoid.

An example that you and I must look at and avoid is that example of a king called Asa. King Asa was a king that led a major revival in the land of Judah.

2 Chronicles 15:7-10;12-15; 19
Then after 20 years of pursuing after God, by chapter 16 (2 Chronicles), Asa shifted ground.

2 Chronicles 16:9 – In other words, what God was saying to Asa was, “look your heart is not perfect anymore” and He concluded in that statement, “herein, you have done foolishly.”

But in spite of the warnings of God, Asa did not shift back to his position with God and the Bible tells us in the last 2 years of his reign, he was diseased in his feet and he died – 2 Chronicles 16:13.

Why? Because, this man did not maintain a perfect heart in the pursuit of God. For 20 years, he was consistent, but after 20 years, he shifted ground.

I will like you to understand that no matter how much you have pursued God in your history, what matters is your present.

Make sure that your persistency never shifts. Yesterday’s consistency is not enough for today.

Every single day keep pressing!!!
Stop telling the stories of yesterday, ensure your commitment is maintained today. That is the key.

That is why you and I need grace. Asa was a revival leader but he lost his place after 20 years of being at the forefront.

-My prayer is that no one here will lose their place in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

That is why we all need grace.
John 15:5
You can’t do anything without Him, you need His help, you need His grace, you need His assistance to maintain your fervency.

Hebrews 4:16 – The Bible makes us to understand very clearly that we must call for that grace.

Every day we must keep calling for grace, keep seeking for grace, keep demanding for grace, keep pressing for grace in order to remain consistent and steadfast in our pursuit of God.

1 Corinthians 15:58
May the grace for this come upon our lives in the name of Jesus.

Prayers: Ask God for grace. Daniel did it, Lord, I receive grace for it. Job pressed on to the end, Lord I receive grace for it.
Lord I receive grace for it. The grace never to negotiate my commitment to you.
I receive that grace this morning,
Pray that prayer from the depth of your heart. The grace never to negotiate my commitment, never to relent in my pursuit.

Never Lord to draw back in my pursuit of you. I receive that grace. It is not by power, it is not by might, but it is by the grace of the Spirit.

Lord, I receive that grace. I don’t want to be like King Asa who pressed and then drew back. I don’t want to be like those who draw back to perdition.

Lord, I receive grace.
Pray for grace, call for grace, press for grace, cry for grace right now.
Lord, I receive grace.
Thank You Father for it, in Jesus precious name we have prayed.

You have asked for grace this morning, that grace will be made manifest in your life. You will not be counted among those that draw back.

You will be counted among those that pressed to the finish in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. So shall it be in Jesus precious name.

SPEAK TO THE DAY
Another day is here, another opportunity. Speak before the Lord and make your declarations concerning the day. Speak right now.

Make your declarations concerning the day, speak to the day right now.
Thank You mighty God, in Jesus precious name we have prayed.

-Now this day is declared blessed.
-It shall be a day of good tidings.
-It shall be a day of heavenly favour.
-The blessings of favour that were spoken over us from Sunday will keep speaking in our lives today. In the name of Jesus Christ.

-All through the day, doors open up to you, in the name of Jesus Christ.

-I declare that it will be for you a day of delivery of long-awaited blessings, in the name of Jesus. So shall it be in Jesus precious name.

It is done, in Jesus precious name.
Don’t forget, we keep engaging, we keep advancing every day. Take advantage of every opportunity and God who sees you in secret will keep rewarding you openly in the name of Jesus Christ.
