TOPIC: FAITH AND PATIENCE TWINS BROTHER
Scripture: Hebrews 6: 12. That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! In the school of Faith, faith and patience are more or less twins! Today we shall examine the relevance of patience to the fulfilment of our faith.
What is patience?
Patience is a virtue. According to Merriam Webster dictionary, it is ability to be patient, forbear or suffer long. And to be patient means to be able to remain calm and not become annoyed when waiting for a long time or when dealing with problems or difficult people.
My few years as a pastor, I have been privileged to talk to some person who feel they are full of faith and some of them are really giving up without this virtue called patience.
One person has asked me, “pastor am I Job? why must my faith be tried for this long?” Well, it is just obvious that the need for patience for your faith to deliver results can never be over emphasized! For the Bible said:
Hebrews 10: 36. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
I think we can meditate on this for the rest of today! It is good to receive the word and your faith is already rising but God said you have need of patience.
Why do you need patience?
1. It is a virtue of those who have gone ahead of us. And we are commanded to be followers of their footsteps. From our anchor scripture:
Hebrews 6: 12. That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Examples of some of them:
A. Abraham, the portrait of faith waited for the fulfilment of the promised son for 25years.
B. Noah waited for the promised rain for 120years.
C. Moses waited for 40years before the dream was fulfilled
D. David has to wait for 13years even after being anointed for so long.
2. Faith sometimes required patience to be boosted.
Romans 5: 3. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4. And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
3. Patience is a product of the trying of your faith.
James 1: 3. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4. We are commanded to be patient:
James 5: 7. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
5. You take possession in patience:
Luke 21: 19. In your patience possess ye your souls.
Beloved, what has God told you? A wonderful business empire, a great ministry, a great family!
You can see your children surround your table yet no marriage in view! You can see an end to battles upon battle etc! Whatever it is, there is need to wait patiently for it and you will not regret it.
Proverbs 23: 18. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off .
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. Where do you intend to spend eternity. Heaven or hell? The choice is yours.
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord, I receive grace to wait patiently for your promise for my life in Jesus name.
– I prophesy the release of grace to wait a little more for the promised blessing
– This is the time for your tears to be wiped away, now I deploy angelic intervention upon your life in the name of Jesus.
