How To Cure Staph Infections Without Antibiotics

Staphylococcus, the bacteria which causes the commonly referred to “Staph infection” is becoming resistant to the antibiotics used to treat it. One such strain is MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) which cannot be killed by medicines used to treat other staph bacteria.

With the progression of medicine and health care, new things are constantly being found, and information is always being updated. One critical thing that has been observed is that bacterial infections which were once uncomplicated in terms of treatment, have slowly become resistant to the pharmaceuticals that once were called their cure.

Initially, penicillin could kill all staph bacteria. As it is, only 10 percent of today’s staph infections can be treated with penicillin antibiotics.

People have become more dependent on antibiotics for almost any form of unhealthy. They take antibiotics for cuts, colds, coughs, rashes and pretty much any small infection. And in the past, doctors have had no need to stay their hand with prescriptions.

Situations have changed. Studies have been carried out and they’ve shown that a lot of these infections, including those by Staphylococcus can be treated without antibiotic use, and this is extremely important to prevent the development of other “Super bugs”. How can you cure it without antibiotics?

Good hygiene

This is the easiest way of keep yourself free of staph infections. It is more of prevention than cure.

  • Keeps flesh wounds clean and covered with a bandage until they’ve healed.
  • Avoid contact with other people’s wounds or bandages.
  • Avoid putting your bare skin on surfaces that are often touched by the public.
  • Always keep your hands clean. Wash them with soap and water regularly, especially before eating and after using the toilet and when you get back home from anywhere.
  • Treat skin rashes and blisters.
  • Wash hands well before and after playing sports.
  • Store food properly.
  • Do not share personal items like towels, clothing, or cosmetics.
  • Do not share a pool with someone with an open sore or wound.
  • Take a bath right after exercising.

Healthy diet

Avoid eating foods and practicing habits that will suppress your immune system like:

  • Excess alcohol
  • Don’t smoke
  • Red meat
  • Processed foods
  • Refined sugar
  • Sugary snacks
  • Greasy foods
  • Sugary drinks and sodas
  • Inadequate sleep

Eat things that will fortify your body and immune system. Introduce more vegetables and fruits into your diet. They contain antioxidants and vitamins that will help you stay healthy.

You probably know by now the power of vitamin C, you’ve probably even purchased it from a pharmacy before. Well, you can easily get more than a healthy dose of vitamin C if you take one orange every day.

Alternative medicine, herbs and supplements

Herbs

Herbs you can use, that have antibiotic properties which the germs don’t become resistant to are;

  • Lemon
  • Aloe Vera
  • Garlic
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger
  • Cloves

Make a paste using any or some of these, and apply to the site of infection two times every day.

Alternative treatments;

  • Apple Cider Vinegar
    This is effective because it has both antibiotic and anti-inflammatory qualities. You can use it topically, you can drink it or better still you can do both.
    Mix the vinegar and water in equal amounts and use the solution to clean the site twice daily.
    Add 1 or two table spoons to a glass of warm water and drink twice daily.

  • Eucalyptus oil
    Add a few drops of this to a carrier solution, be it another oil or honey. It is well known for its antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties. Apply to the affected location twice daily.

  • Coconut oil
    This is very effective for treating staph infections. It is also antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, containing fatty acids which help fight bacteria. It also provides relief from the discomfort of the infection.
    Rub some extra virgin coconut oil over the affected area and leave for a few hours, then wash it off. Do this twice or three times daily.

  • Activated charcoal
    This has been known to help rid the body of toxins. In place of topical antibiotics, for skin infections, you can use activated charcoal made into a paste with honey.


There is nothing wrong with antibiotics before or during your use of these natural methods, approach a doctor and inform the doctor about your infection, get a diagnosis and let them assess the severity of the infection. Looks can be deceiving.
