IN SPIRITUAL WARFARE, PRAISE IS OUR WEAPON OF ALL DESTRUCTION.
HOWEVER, MANY BELIEVERS ARE MAJORING ON THE MINOR AND MINORING ON THE MAJOR
EACH TIME PRAISE FIGHTS, NOTHING SURVIVES.
HEAVEN AND EARTH INCLUDING YOUR BARRENNESS, OPPRESSION, SICKNESS, SITUATION, PRISON, GOLIATH, WALL OF JERICHO SHALL PASS AWAY, BUT GOD’S WORD ABIDETH FOREVER.
JOY AND REJOICING ARE THE COVENANT LADDER THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR US, TO ENSURE THAT WE ARRIVE AT OUR TRIUMPH DESPITE THE SURROUNDING CHALLENGES OF LIFE.
BEWARE OF THESE 3 C’s: COMPARISON, COMPETITION, COMPLAINING.
PRAISE ATTRACTS GOD’S ATTENTION
JOY SECURES GOD’S ATTENTION REJOICE IS TO REPEAT THE JOY

*Beware of sighing. Rather be used to singing. Many think that God hears them by sighing.
*Rejoice means repeat the joy. If you shout (and) it is as if God didn’t hear, shout again.
*If you are complaining for where you are, why not complain for where you are not?
One more time, Father, thank You for a brand-new day. Thank You for a brand-new morning. By this gift of a new day, we receive the benefits You have packaged for us. We slept and we woke not by our strength but because You woke us, because You sustained and we know You have not called us to seek You in vain. Now that we have appeared, let each one’s appearance be transformed. Receive all the glory as You send us Your Word this morning in Jesus awesome name we have prayed.
Since the week began, we started looking at the exhortation line:
ENGAGING THE POWER OF JOY AND REJOICING
It’s my privilege this morning granted by His Servant to take us through this morning’s exhortation. I believe God that the grace upon His life shall find expression this morning, in Jesus awesome name.
In the prophetic theme of the month, our Father made us to recognize that joy and rejoicing; thanksgiving and praise; adoration to God is one of the most neglected weapons of war, yet for us as believers, it’s one of the most effective of all spiritual weapons. At your disposal and my disposal as believers are diverse weapons of war, diverse spiritual weapons.
There are weapons of destruction, there are weapons of mass destruction. But you see, when it comes to spiritual warfare, praise is our weapon of all destruction. Some weapons destroy, others destroy massively, but each time praise fights, nothing survives.
Biblical examples, in the scriptures, we saw in 2 Chronicles chapter 20 when an army, 4 times stronger that Jehoshaphat besieged him.
They switched to praise and at the end of the battle, the Bible says, “nothing survived”, the enemies destroyed themselves, not one thing survived.
2 Chronicles 20:20-24
In Joshua chapter 6, the children of Israel led by Joshua engaged this weapon of all destruction. As they lifted up their praise to God, the Bible says, the wall of Jericho disappeared. The wall of Jericho did not just crash as we were told. If it had crashed, it would have crashed into a wall, but it disappeared and was leveled. Nothing of that wall is traceable till today.
We also saw in the case of Paul and Silas while they were in prison and lifted up their voice in praise. The bands, their gates, everything that made the prison, prison disappeared. Nothing survived. Even the prison warder would have died if not that Paul said, “it is enough.”
So when it comes to warfare, only you can stop the destruction when praise is at work. The enemy has no chance when praise is at work. It is therefore wisdom to pay attention to this weapon. To pay attention to the potency of this weapon. Most times, believers are destroyed not because of the power of the devil but because of ignorance. We have power but we need to know where the power is.
Many are majoring on the minor and minoring on the major. But God through this exhortation is awakening the Church and all through this month, He is reminding us of the power in joy and rejoicing.
Looking at the Old Testament and the New Testament, there are two people that stand out as the most powerful. In the Old Testament, we can depict that David stood out, fought many battles but lost none. What was his secret? Somebody say, “Joy.” He faced adversaries, he faced adversities but he refused to lose his joy.
Psalm 42:5 – hope thou in God, for despite this situation, I shall yet praise Him
The same in Psalm 42:11, Psalm 43:5, Psalm 88:14
I am afflicted, I am buffeted and each time this happens, his secret of turnaround was always praise and worship, joy and rejoicing.
In the New Testament, everyone knows that of all Apostles, the one that stood out is Paul. What was his secret? Joy and rejoicing
Philippians 4:4 – They understood the potency of joy and rejoicing
1 Thessalonians 5:16 – He admonished us, (if) you want to be as powerful as I am, “rejoice evermore”
Therefore, it is good to note as believers that our condition notwithstanding, there is power given to us to turn things turnaround, to win, to triumph, to be more than conquerors. As a matter of fact, with prayers you conquer, with praise you become more than a conqueror. With praise and joy and rejoicing, you invoke God to the battle.
God takes over with praise, God takes over with joy, God takes over with rejoicing.
However, it is good to note that joy and praise is not a claim, joy and praise is a proof. It is something that should be proved. You can’t be joyful for example and not be praiseful.
With joy, the proof that you are joyful is that you must be praiseful. God’s servant would say, “if there is joy in your heart, there must be song in your mouth.”
James 5:13 – Is any merry, prove it by singing Psalms. Are you joyful? Prove it by singing.
The challenge is that most times, we allow situations to over ride revelation. Situations come and go, revelations have come to stay.
The Bible says, “Heaven and earth including your barrenness, including your oppression, including your sickness, heaven and earth, including your situation shall pass away” – Matthew 24:35
Your prison door shall pass away, your Goliath shall pass away, your wall of Jericho shall pass away, but my word abideth forever. God’s Word liveth and abides forever.
When we remove our focus from situations and focus it on the validity of revelation, we will outlive that situation. Rejoice evermore and prove it with singing. Joy is a valid proof before God that you believe Him. Singing is a valid proof before God that you are rejoicing and it takes that joy to invoke His intervention.
WHAT IS IN JOY AND REJOICING FOR US?
- Joy and rejoicing is our covenant way out of every valley of life.
You are in a valley, your only hope of that valley is joy and rejoicing. You don’t come out of the valley by bemoaning the valley. You don’t come out of the valley by bemoaning your situation. Joy and rejoicing are the covenant ladder that God has provided for us because He knows per time, situations will come, offences will come, so He prepares a ladder.
Do you know what ladder is? Ladder is prepared just for the purpose of extension, helping you arrive. Helping you escape, helping you attain what you cannot attain. So when you are faced with a situation that you cannot help yourself, remember that there are revelations that God has laid up for your escape, for your triumph.
Situations are real but covenant ladders are also real.
Joy and rejoicing are God’s covenant ladder out of situations of life, out of valleys of destinies
Covenant ladder – Habakkuk 3:18. As soon as you switch to that, the Lord God takes over.
He will make my feet to move from the valley to the high places of life – Habakkuk 3:19
You know how ladder takes you higher and higher, that is how joy moves you higher and higher.
From today, beware of sighing. Rather be used to singing. Many think that God hears them by sighing, but think about it, sighing and singing, which one will be heard first? They are so many people making a joyful noise before He will hear your sighs, if He will hear it at all.
You want help, you are in the valley, “Hallelujah” – He hears You.
You rejoice. Paul says, “rejoice” – it means repeat the joy. If you shout (and) it is as if He didn’t hear, shout again.
Blind Bartimaeus shouted: it was as if He didn’t hear, he shouted again. It was as if He didn’t hear, he shouted again. It was as if He didn’t, he shouted again, until he was heard. Praise secures God’s attention. Joy secures God’s intervention.
Brethren, we must beware of murmuring. It destroys. I heard God’s Servant say, “Murmuring is a sign of gross ingratitude.” And it is one of the things that turns God off. Even if there was a ladder around, when you start complaining, God will take the ladder far away. It turns God off.
Numbers 14:2, 28-29
When you are murmuring, you are reducing yourself to carcass.
What do you do therefore? Deliberately delete everything that causes murmuring, it will murder you.
Deliberately delete everything that causes depression, it will ultimately lead to your destruction.
What are such things?
COMPARISON: Others in my Unit are married, why haven’t I married? Are you ‘them’?
Comparison. Beware of comparison.
COMPETITION: Beware of competition. Life is not a competition. You are in your race, I am in my race. The number of years it takes for an elephant to give birth is not the same it takes for a rat to give birth. The difference is clear. Stop competing.
COMPLAINING: Complaining!!! The Resident Pastor will always tell us, “wherever you are is somebody’s prayer point.” If you are complaining for where you are, why not complain for where you are not?
Have you ever seen somebody complaining, “Oh, I don’t know why I am not dead by now? I should be dead.” But you know, think about it, you actually, should have been dead. If it were not for the Lord’s mercies, we would have been consumed.
Anything that causes complain, delete it.
In conclusion this morning: Sing your song. Dance your dance. Share your testimonies. It begins with a heart of joy.
Prayers: Focus on the things that God has done. Focus on the truth of scriptures. Regard His works: my hands are working, my eyes are working, I have voice to praise, therefore I celebrate You.
