MOSES SAW GOD FACE TO FACE YET HE LEARNT ADMINISTRATION FROM HIS FATHER-IN LAW
PHARAOH DID NOT CONSIDER THE ETHNICITY OF JOSEPH BEFORE CHOOSING HIM AND THERE WAS PROGRESS IN THE ECONOMY
LEADERS SHOULD BE DISCERNING AND SELECTIVE. JESUS WAS VERY SELECTIVE.
A LEADERSHIP TEAM DETERMINES HOW FAR A CHURCH CAN GROW.
THERE ARE NO PERFECT GENERALS
ANSWERS TO MOST OF THE QUESTIONS YOU ARE ASKING IN YOUR LIFE ARE AROUND YOU WAITING FOR HUMILITY TO PICK THEM UP.
ONE STATEMENT FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF A MENTOR CAN DELIVER YOU FROM UNNECESSARY MISTAKES.
HAVE MENTORS BUT LET THE HOLY SPIRIT BE YOUR PRINCIPAL MENTOR.

  • Pastor Yemi Davids at Kingdom Wealth Conference, Day 3 (Ministers Session)
Here are some lessons I have learnt on my journey
  1. Leadership
When the head of the leader is correct, everything will be correct. Leadership is a mystery that is very critical because things get better when a leader gets it right and things get worse when a leader gets it wrong.

Church doesn’t work because of the senior pastor, it works because of the leadership. This December every pastor should check those around him. Jesus was very selective, there are people who came to follow Jesus and He said no, God bless you. Go and stay with your family.

It’s not just you the leader, it’s the leadership team that determines how far the church can go and grow. Therefore leaders should be discerning and selective .
Don’t be biased with your team.

If Pharaoh can work with Joseph you have no excuse.

For Pharaoh to appoint a seeming convict, a foreigner but has the capacity and anointing to be his second in command. For him to let go of those ethnic bias and appoint him, then think again. After the appointment there was progress in the economy because appointment was right. But look at Saul, the David that was helping him to kill the Philistines, he was fighting him. Look at those two leaders and think about it.

  1. Humility
Never think that you have arrived. Armed with enough humility, anyone can learn from anybody. Grace is poured out when you are humble enough to learn.

There are no perfect generals, true generals have scars in the military because they have faced many battles. If you are looking for perfect fathers in the faith, you will never find any. ‘

If you look at Redeemed for example and the vastness of that church, maybe you should respect the person leading. I was somewhere in Europe and they were telling me of Holy Ghost service in Turkey, Sweden. So they are there actively. If it is juju go and do it. There has to be some wisdom in that man to produce all of these results.

Be willing to learn.
If Moses who saw God face to face, God even wrote on his i-Pad can listen to Jethro then you have no excuse. If some of us was Moses we would assume that everything I need to know God has taught me but it was his father-in-law that taught him administration. Many people are spiritually proud and they are stagnated. Lessons can come from your spouse, lessons can come from your friend. Rescue from Ministry destruction can come from somebody on T.V. You must remain teachable. Answers to the questions you have been asking are around you waiting for humility to pick it up.

  1. Grit – a never giving up attitude in the moment of stagnation.
There might be moments of stagnation in ministry or business, you don’t give up on yourself. They found out in Havard that people that succeed are not the most gifted or talented but the grittiest.
GRIT, You need it because some things that you think will take six months will take 6 year. God calls those things that be not as though they were, so when you are hearing it in your prayer room.

You will just assume that by this time next year it would have happened. That thing can take four years, it can be fourteen years.

Do you have staying power?
This is a poem that has really helped me –
With doubt and dismay you are smitten
You think there’s no chance for you, son?
Why, the best books haven’t been written
The best race hasn’t been run
The best score hasn’t been made yet,
The best song hasn’t been sung,
The best tune hasn’t been played yet,
Cheer up, for the world is young!
No chance? Why the world is just eager
For things that you ought to create.
It’s store of true wealth is still meager
It’s needs are incessant and great
It yearns for more power and beauty
More laughter and love and romance,
More loyalty, labor and duty,
No chance–why there’s nothing but chance!
For the best verse hasn’t been rhymed yet,
The best house hasn’t been planned,
The highest peak hasn’t been climbed yet,
The mightiest rivers aren’t spanned
Don’t worry and fret, faint hearted,
The chances have just begun,
For the best jobs haven’t been started,
The best work hasn’t been done.
(Opportunity by Berton Braley)
No matter what exploits you see in this world, the best of God is never in the past. The best is always ahead. There is still chance for everybody. In the days of 3310, Sagem, where was iPhone? Growing up I though V-BOOT will always be the best car. Where is it today? The best of God is never in the past. The names trending now check it after some few years they might fade off, the only name that remains is the name of Jesus.
New business will begin to rise up, some that were dormant will begin to rise up. Apple has been in existence for many years but suddenly there was a new wave of creativity there. So whether you are starting or you have been there for long, your mindset should be fresh that the chances have just began. That helps you to be gritty.

  1. Excellence
Excellence is not extravagance. Excellence will stand you out, whether the church is for 20 people, 40 people and even 5 people make it as beautiful as you can and you will attract people.
    Daniel 6:3
Excellence would give you preference. The Scripture that revolutionized me is 1 Samuel 16:7, I was reading a book “Church Marketing” the guy that wrote the book explained how we have misinterpreted 1 Samuel 16:7.

Man looks at the outward and God looks at the inward. Who do you need in a church? Man and God. Many of us focus on the last part and say “it’s the heart that matters”.

If it is only good heart you have as a Pastor, the service will be full of anointing but the chairs will be empty. We have many pastors with good heart but dirty auditorium, dirty vicinity, man is always moving towards anything that is beautiful.

Excellence is not extravagance, I am not saying you should go and kill yourself. But you can attain the highest level of beauty where you are. When I see your private life as a leader I can tell the state of your church. An untidy pastor cannot pastor a growing church. It takes order to grow. Excellence starts with your private life.
Kenneth Hagin says if I see the wardrobe of a pastor, I can tell the state of a church. If you don’t have excellence privately, and you act it outwardly it won’t last. We have removed leaders from heading a team in our church not because they are not capable in that sense but because they are not tidy.

Excellence means beauty, sanity, attracting power.

Remember man looks at the outward appearance. So go and shape up privately. If you have one room you are living in, let It be the best room in that town.

You have two shirts, let them be always sparkling clean.

Do your best to keep your place of business excellent.

You might not have money for A.C but buy fan at least. Where there is a will, the money will show up.

Putting rug at the Dome, I had to release my faith for it. A place that can sit thousands of people, I had to release my faith for it. Now people can be praying and rolling on the floor.

  1. Systems Thinking
This was a major breakthrough in my life. In your body you have several systems, is any one more important than the other? What do we call health? Health is the systems running well. Sickness is the breakdown of one or more of the systems. If your digestive system breaks down, if can prevent you from going to work.
In the same way, if a church manages their health, it will grow. For a church to grow, all the systems must be working. We started learning about systems, that there are certain systems in a church that you don’t toy with.
  • Worship System/ Music System – this is what connects everybody to God even unbelievers. If an unbeliever enters a place where the worship is genuine, they can be disarmed. You don’t turn it into entertainment, it can be entertaining but you don’t turn it into entertainment.
If you lose the flavour of the worship, you lose the presence of God. You don’t play with your instrumentalists, your musicians, you keep checking them. A lot of things happen in the choir if you don’t check them well, they can spoil the entire church. The outpouring of the spirit is hinged a lot on the worship system because music is an entrance into the spirit realm.
  • Outreach System

We just arrived at the Dome and God said let the church go on a seven weeks outreach campaign which we just concluded. I am already planning with the spirit for the next one. When you notice that new members are not coming, then the outreach system is sick. When a pastor notices a slow motion in his church, if he understands this systems, he will know which part is sick.

The challenge is that when you don’t attend to one part on time, it can ground the other parts.
Outreach aggression is very important.

  • Assimilation System
All those people come in from outreaches, how do we retain them? Some churches don’t have a problem with bringing in, it is keeping that is the problem. Once you come we take your data and we start disturbing you to come again. That is the assimilation, people in your area will be calling you. If you are not a worker or leader in another church we will compel you to remain.
  • Discipleship System
When people come into your church fresh like that as a club boy or girl, you have to train them unless you will never stop having babies in your church. So foundation school is an avenue to train them.
Tailor your training system based on your calling.
  • Ministry System
Ministry systems is where those who come into ministry, get to serve . As church is growing, you need more teachers, more ushers. Let’s find a way of making sure people serve in ministry teams.

The moment people are not serving in a church, they become Pharisees and Sadducees. When you are playing on the field, you don’t know who is playing well or not but when you are sitting down and watching, it is then you will see that Pastor Olumide did not preach well.

  1. Mentorship
We all need mentors that can help us grow. The way the Holy Spirit explained it to me, it’s like walking between the staircase and your own energy.

In the staircase you are moving up with your own energy, but in the elevator you are moving up but you are not stressed.

Look at Pastor Olumide, if there is anything I have learnt today it is beware of friends because some friends retire too early. If you are not careful they can influence you negatively.

Mentors give you wisdom, I learnt a lot from Sam Adeyemi about administration and systems. One statement from the experience of a mentor can deliver you from unnecessary mistakes.

Mentors will give you wisdom, power and impartation will give you speed.

So when you are looking for your mentor be led. Be consistent with mentors.
You principal mentor is the Holy Spirit.

One day one of my mentors told another of my mentor that you have asked for counsel and I have given you but if you step out of this place and the Holy Spirit tells you something else, follow the Holy Spirit.
