MONDAY MENTORSHIP IN MINISTRY:

THE COSTS OF BECOMING AN ASSISTANT PASTOR:
By Irabor Wisdom.

Assistant Pastors should not allow their need for survival blind their eyes to the Price they have to pay in serving under any Ministry.

You know you can’t keep the Rules and Policies under which that Ministry is operated, yet, because of Hunger, Joblessness, Emotions and Excitement, you jump in and later you want to give that innocent Pastor and Church a bad name.

LUKE 14:28
28: For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the COST, whether he has enough to complete it?

You have to count the cost , if you have what it takes to start and complete this Ministarial Journey.

Infact, the office of an Assistant Pastor is a Calling!
If you are not Called into it, you can be Cursed by it.

Please count the Cost, so that you don’t come into a Curse.

SEE ALSO!

MATHEW 16:24.

“Then, Jesus said to His Disciples, “Whoever wants to be my Disciple must deny themselves and take up their Cross and Follow Me.

As an Assistant Pastor, you are supposed to be the Disciple of that Leader and that Church.

And for anyone to come into Discipleship, you must first come into Self Denial.

Self nolonger matters to you.

You don’t consider yourself in any thing you do.

You must take up your Cross, which is your responsibilities, and follow the one you are serving.

You are to follow at All times.

Follow with your Life, so that your Life will not remain Fallow.

THE THREE BIGGEST QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF AS AN ASSISTANT PASTOR:

1. AM I CALLED TO BE AN ASSISTANT PASTOR?
This is where most Assistant Pastors miss it. They are not Called to be an Assistant Pastor, so any little test, they react and walk away.
Never forget, being an Assistant Pastor is a Calling and not a Feeling.

2. IF I AM CALLED TO BE AN ASSISTANT PASTOR, AM I CALLED TO DO IT ON A PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME BASIS?
This is where most young men still miss it. Some have no business with full time pastoring. They still want to do all kinds of business in town, yet, claim to be full-time.
I agree, the word “Full-Time” is not a biblical word but an English word, but it implies, someone has paid for the full use of your time. You will be wrong not using the time that is already paid, for the advancement of that assignment committed into your hands.
So if being a full time will create a problem for you and your boss, you may consider doing it on a part-time basis. And if he doesn’t want you to do it part-time, it means God doesn’t want you there, or you are not ready to submit your Will to God’s Will.

3. IF I AM CALLED TO BE AN ASSISTANT PASTOR, AND I AM ALSO CALLED TO DO IT AS A FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME PASTOR,
AM I ALSO CALLED TO DO IT UNDER THIS MAN AND THIS CHURCH?
Some people are working under a Man they don’t love and believe in; under a church whose doctrines and practices they still argue over in the name of a different revelation.
When you become an Assistant Pastor with a Church, you are also an Ambassador of that Church. You are to represent and reproduce everything about that Church. If you doubt anything, you shouldn’t be their Assistant Pastor in the first place.

*NOW THE 7 COSTS OF BECOMING AN ASSISTANT PASTOR:*

You may not accept what you are about to read, that is not a problem, you will always meet it on the field.
May it not be too late then.

1. THE COST OF RUNNING WITH ONLY THE VISION OF THE SET MAN AS LONG AS YOU REMAIN UNDER THE SYSTEM:

Division simply means divided vision. You stay with the Vision of the Set-Man.
There can’t be two Visions under the same Vision.
Even if you claim to have a Vision, you must fulfill it under the Vision of the Set-Man.
No Assistant Pastor should have a Vision Statement that is different from the Founder of the Church he is working with.
How can God tell you General Overseer to teach New Creation Realities, and the same God ask you to teach Deliverance?
Your Spiritual Father says the Holy Spirit doesn’t fall anyone, in your own branch, you are busy falling everyone during anointing session. That is Confusion within the Commission.
God doesn’t operate that way.
Infact, let me be sincere to you, you don’t have a Vision, what you have, was a Vacancy.
If there was no vacancy, will you have applied to be a Pastor?
Keep that your Vision outside so that you can serve well. That thing you call a Vision is a distraction.

2. THE COST OF NOT STAYING ONLY IN THE SAME CITY AND PLACE YOU DESIRE TO STAY:

The day you sign to be an Assistant Pastor, you forfeited your right to remain in the same location.
You can be moved at any point in time. And until you understand this cost, you will continue to end your apprenticeship journey prematurely. As an Assistant Pastor, I lived in a village without light for one year and nine months.
Even though I was transferred from a location where the light doesn’t blink for weeks.
That is the Price you pay to remain in God’s Will for your life.

3. THE COST OF PREACHING THE MIND OF YOUR SPIRITUAL LEADER, AS APPROVED IN THE TEACHING GUIDE GIVEN TO YOU AND NOT JUST THE MIND OF GOD:

God is not the author of confusion.
Yesterday in Catholic Church, every Priest used the same manual all over the World.
The same with Winners Chapel, Salvation Ministries and several other ministries.
A Ministry gets to a point where everyone hears the same thing in every location.
To be an Assistant Pastor in the Ministry I mentioned above and say you got a different message from the Lord with a different topic is an error.
That is punishable under the Ministry’s Policy.
Our Utterance can be different but our Entrance into the Sermon must be the same.
Some General Overseers must preach from the center to all other branches. That is the Vision of the Set-Man.

You don’t go shift the dish outside and say there is no network in your branch.
How long will you be lying?

4 THE COST OF MOVING YOUR WIFE ABOUT WITH YOU, FROM PLACE TO PLACE:

Some Assistant Pastors may divorce in order to fulfill destiny-ministry, because two cannot work together unless they agree. But instead of marrying and divorcing, why not avoid all this society ladies that want to marry a Pastor whose life they can’t fit into.
To marry a society lady is to suffer societal demons.
Some women cannot move from a city to a township or village. Don’t go near them. They are not ministry material. Run for your life.
A Nigerian Pastor got married in a foreign country, the wife refused to move with him back to Nigeria on transfer.
After about 3 years of waiting for her, she still refused to join her husband, and you expect the Pastor to resign to go and join her?
Some marriages can’t remain if ministry must remain. So as an Assistant Pastor, please tell your wife, you don’t have the power to decide where you will live per time.

5. THE COST OF BEING CONTROLLED BY THE PRINCIPLES GUIDING YOUR STEWARDSHIP IN THAT MINISTRY:

If you cannot be controlled, you cannot be an Assistant Pastor.
In so many ways you must be controlled.

What to wear.

When to start and close a service.

When to fast. ( You may have your own fasting program, but you MUST follow the fasting schedule of the church you are serving under)

When to pray. ( Same as stated above)

When to travel.

When to end your preaching.

When to wake up.

When to resume for the day

When to move.

When to go for evangelism.

As you can see it is not easy. That is why it is a Calling.

6. THE COST OF REMAINING AN ASSISTANT PASTOR NO MATTER HOW BIG YOU HAVE BECOME:

Some Assistant Pastors think by following for a long period of time, they will suddenly outgrown being an Assistant Pastor.
I am telling you that you started that way, you will always remain an Assistant Pastor , no matter how big you have become. You can’t wake up and start doing things as if you are the Founder.
Let us be more practical.
If your ministry don’t allow guest speakers at the branch level, as an Assistant Pastor, can you be led to invite one to your branch?
If your ministry don’t permit all night service, can you be led to do 14 days all night in the branch you pastor?
You already know the answer yourself.

7. THE COST OF RECEIVING PASTORAL BLESSINGS AND GOODWILL IF YOU MUST RESIGN FROM BEING AN ASSISTANT PASTOR:

If you know you won’t go well don’t even start it in the first place.
Some Assistant Pastors are very foolish when it comes to exit.

How can you resign behind your Spiritual Father?

How can you change the name of a Church to your own Church?

How can you turn the people under you against your Spiritual Father?

How can you just walk away as if you are a bastard?

One of the cost you have to pay as an Assistant Pastor, is the cost of going with the Good-Will and Blessings of the House.

This is one of the reasons why most Pastors who left certain ministries, are not doing well.

How you go, is worst than any curse that is placed on you.
I’m telling you, believe me.

Thanks for reading.
