Spread the love

Scripture :Ephesians 4: 32. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday, we established that the more excellent way is love and that one demand of love is forgiveness. Today, we shall press further on the issue of forgiveness as the foundation of walking in love!

The two aspects of forgiveness are:
A. Forgiveness of oneself (details in yesterday’s meditation).

B. Forgiveness of others :
Usually, this is a difficult subject amongst the body of Christ because of our human nature, our minds believe that even if you are to forgive, forgive and keep the records! And as long as you keep the records, the pain remains.

Imagine a young girl that was raped by her uncle while she was growing up, how can she forgive such a uncle in a hurry? Or the one raped by her father who should have protected her!

The results of such pain will probably make her unable to enjoy love with any man the rest of her life, if she doesn’t forgive herself and forgive her father. The hurt remains as long as she keeps holding on to it.

But the moment she forgives, she releases herself from the emotional bondage. Imagine an uncle that killed your father, how possible is it to forgive such a person or the doctor that killed your child out of carelessness etc.

It is easier said than practiced! But we can trust the Holy Spirit to help us out on the issue of forgiveness.

How then should we give forgive?

Eph. 4:32 …even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you!

If you have ever received forgiveness from God, then forgive the same way. If you have ever received forgiveness, then give out forgiveness!

Once again this is possible with the help of the Holy Spirit because the pain in our human heart will resist and reject you giving forgiveness to the one that caused you pain! So rely on the Holy Spirit, ask Him for strength to be able to do it.

Besides, the scripture further shows us how God forgives, so that we can walk within the same boundary:

Isaiah 43: 25. I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

Hebrews 8: 12. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

If you observe the two scriptures above, God promised never to remember your sin and your iniquities once He has forgiven you!

Meaning He will not keep records of it anymore. And that is the same way, He is asking us to forgive! That is, if you sincerely forgive that person from your heart there is no need to keep records of wrong done to you.

Someone may say pastor, are you asking me to forgive and forget? Well, It is not me that said so, God says so – through His word to us. So it is either we obey God by doing the scripture or create our own ideaology and disobey God.

If you have received Christ, then you have received love and it demands forgiveness! Because refusal to forgive has a dire consequences.

Besides, our anchor scripture reveals that you should be kind hearted, one to another!

Ephesians 4: 32. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Beloved, this is a hard nut to crack! However the truth must be told.

So let’s learn to obey the scriptures more than what the society is teaching us. The word of God says forgive:

Matthew 6:12 (NLT) and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

You see from the scripture above, we receive forgiveness as we also give forgiveness. There are many marriages that are hitting the rocks today because Christians are disobeying scriptures.

Imagine a husband not in talking terms with the wife, yet he is speaking in tongue and praying to a God he is disobeying! When the Bible commands:

1 Peter 3: 7. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered* .

Note the closing clause “that your prayers be not hindered”!

You can see why so many prayers are hindered because we are disobeying God.

Remember this; Heaven is real and hell is real! Unforgiveness can take one to hell but Jesus provides the way out. Jesus is the way to life! Make Him your Lord today.

Prayer points :
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord I can no longer bear this pain, please help me out in Jesus name.
– Lord I forgive (mention the person name) now in Jesus name

Prophetic Declaration :
– I prophesy the release of grace to forgive all that has hurt you now in Jesus name.
– Receive the healing that comes through forgiveness now in the name of Jesus

From your brother Alex
God bless you.
