Scripture: John 16: 23. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday we started sharing that the prayer that must receive heaven’s attention is a prayer that is based on the word of God.

We answered what the Word of God is because that is what gives us the promises of God, the principles of the kingdom and prophecies. Today we shall press further on this matter.

Scripturally, the prayer that will receive heaven’s attention are:
1. The prayer that is directed to the Father (details in yesterday’s meditation)

2. The prayer that is prayed in the name of Jesus: Our anchor scripture reveals one of the classic instructions on prayer! Jesus said:
*John 16: 23. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.*

Here Jesus is saying make your prayers to the Father but it must be in my name. In another instance, Jesus said:

John 14: 14. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Please observe closely the two scripture above, none of them says pray through Jesus our Lord or pray for Jesus sakes! I have observed many believers pray by saying, “through Jesus Christ our Lord”!

This is scripturally wrong but Jesus never instructed us to pray through His name. I’m aware there are some men with ecclesiastical title who also commit the same error based on their theological training to them.

Beloved, we are not here to point out error or to be sarcastic, but to stand by the Gospel, that if you want to get desired answers in prayer, then direct your prayers to the Father in the name of Jesus!

Why in the name of Jesus?

A. That is the only access to the Father:

John 14: 6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

It is like you going to the bank to cash out money with a cheque signed by me. The cashier will honour the check when they see my signature, they don’t need to know you or you having an account with them. So also it is when we pray in the name of Jesus. This is the only signature heaven will see and honour your request.

B. That is the only name we have been given to use:

Mark 16: 17. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

So, we do miracles, signs and wonders in the name of Jesus!

We speak in tongues in the name of Jesus.

Although there are times you call that name and it seems as if nothing happens, this is calling the name out of fear, panic or anxiety! It is only when you call the name of Jesus in faith that it will only produce results. The first miracle of Peter and John was faith in the name of Jesus.

Acts 3: 16. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

Please note that even in writing, it is an error to write ”ijn” or “IJN” as “In Jesus name!” How many of you will be happy if your name is not correctly spelt? So, abbreviating IJN to be in Jesus name shows a mark of disrespect and dishonour to that name! For as many of us who are fond of doing that need to stop it today.

Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real! Millions have made their way to hell, don’t be part of the statistic! So, give your heart to Jesus today.

Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Lord, I receive grace to pray aright by praying in the name of Jesus.

Prophetic Declaration:
– I declare the last time you miss it shall be the last for ever! you will not miss it again in the name of Jesus.
– I prophesy restoration all the way in the name of Jesus.

From your brother Alex
God bless you.
