CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION SERVICE – SATURDAY, 25TH DECEMBER 2021

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): LUKE 2:1-14.

MESSAGE TOPIC: THE PURPOSE OF CHRIST’S BIRTH
By: Dr Paul Enenche

MESSAGE OBJECTIVES: Understanding the purpose of Christ’s birth

WHY WAS THE CHRIST BORN?
1. Jesus Christ was born to redirect man back to God (Gen. 3:24; John 14:6; Matt. 2:1-2; 2Pet. 1:19)
After man was driven from the Garden, mankind became hopeless lost and has been looking for a way back to God
Whereas religion is man looking for God, Christianity is God looking for man.

2. Jesus Christ was born to connect earth to Heaven, the terrestrial to the celestial,
humanity to Divinity (Luke 2:8-10,13-14)

3. Jesus Christ was born to reintroduce the life of God back to man (Gen. 2:15-17; Rom. 3:23; 6:23; 1John 4:4; 5:4)
God wanted man to re-experience the Zoe life of God once again
Jesus came with a supernatural life in a human body so that humanity can partake in Divinity

4. Jesus Christ was born to attract all men to God (John 12:32)
Jesus used the angel to speak to the shepherds and a star to speak to astrologers
Where you are is not as important as who you are; your present situation is not as important as your future destination
Your content is more important as your condition

5. Jesus Christ was born to tackle the sin question (Gen. 3:21; Ex. 12:3-4; Heb. 9:7; 10:3-4)
In the Garden, God sacrificed an animal for the couple – Adam and Eve; in Egypt a ram was sacrificed for each household, in Israel a ram atoned for a nation but this was not enough to atone permanently for the sins of man
The blood of animals is limited, corrupted and temporary
The Blood that was to be shed needed to be massive enough to delete the iniquity of mankind at once and the only One that can do that is God but God cannot die as God so He had to become a Man

6. Jesus Christ was born to reveal the infinite possibilities and immutability of God (Isa. 9:6-7; 2Pet. 3:8)

7. Jesus Christ was born for the restoration of peace to mankind (Isa. 9:6; Luke 2:13-14)
7a. Peace is freedom from disturbance
7b. Peace is the absence of worry, anxiety and fear
7c. Peace is defined as a state or period in which there is no war
7d. Peace is the combination of hope and joy
Where there is hope there will be joy and where there is joy, peace will be established

WHAT IS OUR RESPONSE TO THE CHRIST?
1. Allow Him, not just to be born at Christmas but to be born in your life (2Pet. 1:19)

2. Allow Him to live His life through you (Phil. 1:21)

PRAYERS:
Father, thank You for Your Word to us today. To You be all the glory Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
