Scripture : Mark 11: 25. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! We have been looking at the subject, foundation for walking in love and we have seen the number one foundation as forgiveness. We have examined forgiveness to oneself and others. Today we shall briefly examine why we must forgive as believers.

Why every believer must forgive?

Believers must practice forgiveness for the following reasons :
1. To avoid hindrances to prayers(Mrk.11:25, 1Pet.3:7) Unforgiveness hinders answers to prayer.

2. It is a seed that must be planted to reap the harvest of forgiveness:
Matthew 6: 14. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

3. To save us from the ministry of tormentors:
(Matt.18:21-35). The narrative begins with a parable that Jesus gave to illustrate the need for forgiveness. He then closed with this statement :

Matthew 18: 34. And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

This statement has a lot of information; firstly, one can be delivered to tormentors and secondly, these tormentors have an assignment that I refer to as the ministry of tormentors.

What then is the definition of tormentors?

According to Merriam Webster Dictionary; A tormentor is a person who causes repeated emotional pain, distress, or annoyance to another.

Hmmm! Tormentors are real demons assigned against any man/woman that refuses to forgive.

You wonder why you are just angry unecessarily! You carry pain that is gradually depressing you because the tormentors are already working on you.

Beloved, when you refuse to forgive that person that offended you, you have simply sent an invitation to demons known as tormentors! These tormentors minister in two ways:

A. By bringing fear: When the spirit of fear is at work, love will be absent :

1 John 4: 18. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

B. By bringing sorrow : When you hold someone in your heart, you are indirectly holding yourself down, thereby leading to emotional torture :

2 Corinthians 2: 7. So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Please and please forgive that man that once raped you, that man/woman that killed your baby. Forgive that man that denied you of your promotion. Forgive your father that failed to send you to school. Forgive that guy/lady that broke your heart. Forgive every one that has inflicted pain on your heart.

Beloved, if you don’t forgive him/her from your heart, May I inform you that you have invited the ministry of tormentors. This demons will torment you until you become bitter and in some cases commit suicide. I pray that shall not be your portion in Jesus name.

Remember this : Heaven is real and hell is real! Refusal to forgive can take you to hell. Allow Jesus to heal you today.

Prayer points :
– Father thank you for your word to me today
– Lord empower me for forgiveness in Jesus name
– Lord heal me of every emotional wound that is currently eating me up in Jesus name.

Prophetic Declaration;
– I prophesy healing is coming to every wounded heart emotionally in the name of Jesus.
– Your turn to dance for celebration is here! Your celebration cometh!

From your brother Alex
God bless you.
