Spread the love

Scripture: Romans 4: 18. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Beloved, in continuation of what we started yesterday, hope is a major pillar in the operation of faith! When hope is gone, faith is gone because faith comes to give substance to your hope (Heb.11:1).

Hope can be likened to female ovaries that await the male spermatozoa for fertilization and an offspring is birthed known as good reports. So check it out, no matter how strong a male partner is, he can never produce a child all by himself. He needs a female partner to produce children. In the same vein faith no matter how strong it is can never deliver results without hope.

Hope is what makes faith productive and dynamic. It places the results you are expecting in your hands like Abraham in our anchor scripture:

Romans 4: 18. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

Who against hope- implies that it was no longer sensible to have hope, yet Abraham believed God! His case was hopeless, but he looked beyond the fact and kept his hope alive and by so doing his hope strengthened his faith. Hence the Bible said:

Romans 4: 19. And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:

Beloved, I don’t know the medical verdict that you have received that is making you loose hope about your situation? I come with a good news today, there’s hope for you! Listen to me child of God:

Lamentations 3: 37. Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

It is only God that has the final say over your life. Don’t conclude your case yet when God has not concluded on you.

Why do I hope as a pillar of faith?

1. It is because it is commanded (Ps.42:5)
2. It is a gift from God (Lam.3:24)
3. It is because beyond this earth there is hope for us.(1Cor.15:19, Titus 2:13)
Hence we are required to:
A. Rejoice in hope:
Romans 12: 12. Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

B. Continue in hope:
1 Peter 1: 13. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

What are we hoping on?

1. We hope in God (Ps.39:7, 1Pet.1:21)
2. In Christ (1Tim.1:1)
3. We hope in God’s promises (Acts 26:6-7)
4. In God’s mercy (Ps.33:18)
5. We hope in the works of the Holy Spirit (Rom 15:13, Gal.5:5)

How do we obtain hope?

1. Through patience and comfort of the scriptures;
Romans 15: 4. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
2. Through grace (2Thess.2:16)
3. Through the word of God (Ps.119:81), it could be a prophecy, a sermon, reading an article/Christian literature
4. Listening to the testimony of those who kept hope alive and their faith finally delivers

Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real! Wherever you want to spend eternity the choice is yours, but we appeal that you give Jesus a chance in your life.
