Simi to Adekunle Gold: I love you my boy - P.M. News

Scripture: Psalm 50: 5. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday we did established that Covenants is a pathway to the blessing! We further consider the Covenants that exists between human and the devil. Today, we shall be looking at covenant between man and God.

What do we mean by being in covenant with God?

It is an agreement between God and man with clear terms of responsibility on each part that is usually ratified or seal with a token.

This Covenant could be classified as:

1. General covenant (Exo. 24:5-8, Matt. 26:28): God made a general covenant with the house of Israel! Based on the covenant He had with Abraham their progenitor. Hence anyone that align with this covenant get blessed and protected.

It was not too long God started talking about the New Covenant (Jer. 31:31). It was that new covenant that Jesus came to mediate:

Hebrews 12: 24. And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

So, our Lord Jesus Christ enters a new covenant with the church using His own blood. This is also a general covenant; anyone that align by being born again, recives the full package of the covenant termed redemption!

2. Individual covenant (Gen.28:22-24): The second category of covenant is when individual decided to take their walk further with God. Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Apostle Paul etc made covenant with God separately besides the general covenant! Similarly, every believers must enter the new birth covenant to be welcome into God’s family!

It doesn’t matter if you are born inside church,, you are not yet a covenant child of God until you are born again! So despite the general one Jesus made on our behalf we must be ready to have our own covenant with God.

As New Testament believers the following are some of the covenant that is allowed:

A. The Lord’s super or Holy communion
B. Child naming; some consider it as naming ceremony but those that understand covenant call it covenant naming
C. Dedication (Child dedication, House dedication, car dedication etc) is also a covenant.
D. Water baptism is a covenant
E. Tithing, offerings, sowing seed faith etc! Oh how I wish every believers understand the implications of being in covenant when it has to do with sowing and reaping!

F. Christian service e.g missionary, pastoral assignment is a covenant. This is the reason why you don’t step in and step out except you were never called. If God called you it is a high calling and it is a covenant walk for life.

The implications of being in covenant with God;

1. It offers protection to covenant partners (2Sam.21:4-7)
2. It secure the posterity of covenant partners(1Sam.20:13-17)
3. It gives you a job you are not qualified for(2Sam.9:1-10)
4. It grants you access to the wealth and favour of covenant partners. For example, I and my wife are in covenant; hence she has access to whatever is in my hand. Similarly, when a man is in covenant with God, He can access what God have; these includes riches, favour, glory, honour, blessing, wisdom and power etc.

Beloved, the matter of covenant is so deep. You can not be in it and suffer casualties.

Even if all hell let loose on your investment like they did to Job(Job1:12-20), and you are a covenant practioner, it is just a matter of time, you will certainly bounce back like Job bounce back(Job 42:10-14).

Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. The decision of where to spend eternity is up to you, make hay while the sunshine.

Prayer points:
– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Father I receive grace to make my walk with you a covenant one in the name of Jesus.

Prophetic Declaration :
– I declare your life is blessed as you choose to engage in personal covenant walk in the name of Jesus.
– Wherever your life is suffering because of broken covenant, receive grace to mend every broken covenant in the name of Jesus.

From your brother Alex
God bless you.
